Catch is a shopping list that grades what you buy. It is free to use, needs no account, and offers an optional subscription called Catch Pro. The grades it shows are nutrition information, not medical advice — they come from a public food database and a small curated table, and they can be wrong.
Catch is made and operated by Alberto Clemente. You can reach a human at clemalb@gmail.com. By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.
Use Catch on any device you own or control, for your own shopping, for as long as you like. You may not resell it, rent it out, or pass it off as your own; take it apart to extract its source, except where the law says you may regardless of what a licence claims; use it to break the law; or hammer the services behind it — the relays, Open Food Facts — in a way that degrades them for anyone else.
The app itself, its name, its artwork and Pip remain ours. The food data does not — see Where the grades come from below.
Everything you type or scan into Catch belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it, and we do not read it: your lists, your pantry and your progress are stored on your phone, not on a server of ours. The narrow exceptions — a list photo you choose to scan, the name of a food being graded, the shelf you ask for dish ideas about — are set out in full in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Catch is not a medical device and does not give medical, dietary or nutritional advice. A grade is a summary of published data about a product — its Nutri-Score, how processed it is, what additives it lists — and it is offered to help you compare things on a shelf, nothing more.
Do not rely on Catch for any decision where being wrong would matter to your health. In particular, do not rely on it for allergens, intolerances, or any medical condition: ingredient data can be incomplete, out of date, or simply mistaken, and a product's recipe can change without the database noticing. Read the packaging, and talk to a doctor or a dietitian about anything that matters. If you have a food allergy, the label on the jar is the only thing that counts.
Nutrition data comes from Open Food Facts, an open, community-built database, used under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). It is contributed by volunteers and is neither complete nor guaranteed accurate. Where Open Food Facts has nothing useful, Catch falls back on a small hand-checked table of common staples. Neither we nor Open Food Facts warrant that any particular grade is correct.
Two things in Catch send text or an image to Anthropic (Claude): reading a photographed shopping list, and suggesting dishes from what is on your pantry shelf. Both are off until you switch them on, and either can be switched off again at any time. Both produce output that can be wrong, incomplete, or nonsensical — a misread item, a dish that makes no sense with what you have. Check anything that matters before you act on it, and do not treat a suggested dish as a recipe that has been tested, costed or checked for allergens.
Catch is free. Catch Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks the pantry and its history, unlimited list scans, saved staples and a per-shop aisle order. It is billed monthly or yearly through the store you installed from — Apple's App Store or Google Play — and renews automatically until you cancel. Manage or cancel it in your store account, not in Catch: we cannot cancel it for you, and we do not take the payment. Prices are shown in the app before anything is charged and vary by country. Refunds are governed by the policy of the store that took the payment.
Some builds distributed for testing unlock Catch Pro for everyone at no cost. That is a property of the test build and is not a promise about any released version.
Catch is provided as it is, without any warranty we are free to disclaim. We do not promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of defects, and features can change or disappear as the app develops. We may stop offering it, or stop supporting a version, at any time. You may stop using it whenever you like — deleting the app removes everything it kept on your phone, permanently and irreversibly.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement, and nothing here excludes liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Beyond that, and to the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Catch.
These terms may change as the app does. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use Catch after a change means you accept the new version; if you do not, stop using the app.
These terms are governed by Italian law, and the courts of Italy have jurisdiction — except where the law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which it may well, and which these terms do not take away.
